Five makers we keep coming back to

A handful of small workshops make the pieces that turn our rooms into homes. Here are five we return to on almost every project — and why.
Mass-produced furniture fills a room. Made-to-order pieces finish it. We keep a short list of makers whose work we trust completely, and we visit their workshops before every commission.
Who they are
A joiner in Aarhus who builds our tables from a single board wherever he can.
A potter in Lisbon whose glazes change with every firing.
A weaver in Oslo making wool throws on a 1950s loom.
A lighting studio in Copenhagen that still hand-spins its brass shades.
A stone cutter who saves offcuts for side tables and trays.
Why it matters
Working with makers adds weeks to a project, never months, and it means every room has at least one piece no one else owns. That is usually the piece our clients mention first.

Something made by hand carries the time it took to make. You feel it when you hold it.
